Verily Jonah is one of the apostles. 139 He abandoned his people 140 and cast lots, and he was among the losers (of the lots that were cast). 141 [and they cast him into the sea,] whereupon the great fish swallowed him, for he had been blameworthy. 142 And had he not been of those who hallow Him, 143 he would certainly have remained inside the fish until the Day of Resurrection. 144 ۞ But We cast him, upon the shore, and he was ill, 145 And We grew a tree of gourd (as a shelter) above him. 146 And We sent him to a hundred thousand (folk) or more 147 and [this time] they believed [in him] and so We allowed them to enjoy their life during the time allotted to them? 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad SAW): "Are there (only) daughters for your Lord and sons for them?" 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 No indeed! It is one of their fabrications when they say: 151 'Allah has begotten' They are truly liars. 152 "He has chosen daughters in preference to sons"! 153 What is the matter with you? How judge ye? 154 Will you not then mind? 155 Or is there for you a plain authority? 156 Then bring your scripture, if what you say is true. 157 They have said that there is a relationship between Him and the jinn. The jinn certainly know that they will all be brought to suffer torment. 158 limitless is God in His glory, above anything that men may devise by way of definition! 159 Except the chosen servants of Allah [who do not share in that sin]. 160 So, verily you (pagans) and those whom you worship (idols). 161 Not against Him can you cause (any) to fall into trial, 162 Except one who is (destined) to burn in Hell. 163 None of us is there, but has a known station; 164 “And indeed we, with our wings spread, await the command.” 165 And we are those who sing hallelujas to Him." 166 And indeed, the disbelievers used to say, 167 "Had we received guidance from the people living before us, 168 "We would have indeed been the chosen slaves of Allah (true believers of Islamic Monotheism)!" 169 Yet they disbelieve therein. Presently they shall come to know. 170 Already Our Word has preceded to Our servants, the Envoys; 171 that, verily, they - they indeed - would be succoured, 172 And that Our host, they verily would be the victors. 173 So, [O Muhammad], leave them for a time. 174 And watch them, for they will soon see. 175 Do they seek to hasten on Our Torment? 176 So when it does descend in their courtyards – so what an evil morning it will be for those who were warned! 177 So turn (O Muhammad SAW) away from them for a while, 178 And see, for they are going to see. 179 Glorified be your Lord, the Lord of Honour and Power! (He is free) from what they attribute unto Him! 180 And Peace on the messengers! 181 and praise be to God, the Lord of all the Worlds. 182
