In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
O YOU ENWRAPPED in the cloak (of Prophethood), 1 Keep awake [in prayer] at night, all but a small part 2 A half thereof, or abate a little thereof 3 Or a little more; and recite the Qur'an in slow, measured rhythmic tones. 4 For we shall charge thee with a word of weight. 5 Surely in the watches of the night the soul is most receptive and words more telling. 6 You have by day prolonged occupations. 7 And remember thou the name of thy Lord, and devote thyself to Him with an exclusive devotion. 8 The Sustainer of the east and the west [is He]: there is no deity save Him: hence, ascribe to Him alone the power to determine thy fate, 9 And bear patiently what they say and avoid them with a becoming avoidance. 10 And let Me alone with the beliers, owners of ease: and respite thou them a little. 11 Indeed We have heavy fetters and a blazing fire. 12 And a food that choketh and a torment afflictive. 13 (They will come across all this) on the Day when the earth and the mountains shall tremble violently and the mountains shall crumble into heaps of scattered sand. 14 We have sent a messenger who is a witness over you, just as We sent a messenger to Pharoah before you. 15 But Fir'aun (Pharaoh) disobeyed the Messenger [Musa (Moses)], so We seized him with a severe punishment. 16 Then how shall ye, if ye deny (Allah), guard yourselves against a Day that will make children hoary-headed?- 17 On that day, the heavens will be rent asunder. This is the decree of God which has already been ordained. 18 This, verily, is a reminder: let him who wills, then set out on a way to his Sustainer! 19

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
