Hast thou received the story of the honoured guests of Abraham? 24 When those [heavenly messengers] came unto him and bade him peace, he answered, "[And upon you be] peace!" - [saying to himself,] "They are strangers." 25 Then he turned away privately unto his household, and brought a calf fatted. 26 and laid it before them, saying: “Will you not eat?” 27 He felt afraid of them; but they said: "Have no fear," and gave him the good news of a wise son. 28 Then his wife drew near vociferating, and smote her face, and said: an old barren woman! 29 'Such, says your Lord' they replied: 'He is the Wise, the Knower' 30 ۞ (Abraham) said: "And what, O ye Messengers, is your errand (now)?" 31 They said, “We have been sent towards a guilty nation.” 32 that we may unleash a shower of clay-stones 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 And in the course of time We brought out [of Lot 's city] such [few] believers as were there: 35 We found in it only one household of true believers -- 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the painful punishment. 37 There is also a Sign for you in the story of Moses when We sent him with a clear authority to Pharaoh. 38 But (Pharaoh) turned back with his Chiefs, and said, "A sorcerer, or one possessed!" 39 So We seized him and his hosts and hurled them into the sea and he was blamable. 40 In 'Ad (also is a sign), when We sent a blasting wind against them, 41 which turned everything it approached into dust. 42 And also in Thamood, when it was said to them, 'Take your enjoyment for a while!' 43 But in their pride they turn away from the commandment of their Lord and the thunderbolt struck them whilst they were looking; 44 So they were not able to rise up, nor could they defend themselves- 45 And [We destroyed] the people of Noah before; indeed, they were a people defiantly disobedient. 46
