Surely We brought man into being out of dry ringing clay which was wrought from black mud, 26 And the jinn We created before, of intensely hot fire. 27 And recall when your Lord said to the angels, “I will create man from sounding clay made out of black smelly mud.” 28 When I have completed shaping him and have breathed into him of My Spirit, then fall you down before him in prostration." 29 All the angels prostrated before Adam 30 Not so Iblis: he refused to be among those who prostrated themselves. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said, "Never would I prostrate to a human whom You created out of clay from an altered black mud." 33 (Allah) said: "Then, get out from here, for verily, you are Rajim (an outcast or a cursed one)." [Tafsir At-Tabari] 34 “And indeed you are accursed till the Day of Judgement.” 35 He said, “My Lord! Grant me respite till the day when they will all be raised.” 36 Answered He: "Verily, so be it: thou shalt be among those who are granted respite 37 unto the day of a known time.' 38 He said: my Lord! because Thou hast led me to err I will surely make things fairseeming unto them on the earth and will surely seduce them all: 39 except the devoted amongst Your worshippers. 40 He said: This is a right course incumbent upon Me: 41 over My worshipers you have no authority, except the perverse that follow you. 42 Surely Hell is the promised place for all of them." 43 It has seven gates; for every gate there shall be a separate party of them. 44
