The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Recite: In the Name of thy Lord who created, 1 Has created man from a clot (a piece of thick coagulated blood). 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know. 5 Yet man behaves arrogantly, 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Surely to your Lord is the return. 8 HAST THOU ever considered him who tries to prevent 9 A slave when he prayeth? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or had enjoined piety, (it would have been better)? 12 Tell me if he (the disbeliever, Abu Jahl) denies (the truth, i.e. this Quran), and turns away? 13 Does he not know that God sees? 14 Let him know that if he does not desist, We shall certainly drag him by his forelocks, 15 his lying sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call upon his henchmen! 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay! obey him not, and make obeisance and draw nigh (to Allah). ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
