The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn, 2 Proclaim the glory of your Lord; 3 purify your garments; 4 And banish all trepidation. 5 Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)! 6 and for the sake of your Lord, be patient. 7 When the Horn is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 Not of ease, for disbelievers. 10 LEAVE Me alone [to deal] with him whom I have created alone, 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and children as [love's] witnesses, 13 And made things easy for them. 14 Yet he desires that I should give more. 15 By no means! He has been stubbornly hostile to Our revelation: 16 I shall soon constrain him to a hard ascent. 17 For he thought and he plotted -- 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Yea, Woe to him; How he plotted!- 20 Then he thought; 21 Then he frowned and scowled; 22 then turned back, and swelling-up with pride, 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 These are only words from a mere mortal". 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves naught nor does it spare aught. 28 It scorches people's skin 29 Above it are nineteen guards. 30 And We have not made the keepers of the Fire except angels. And We have not made their number except as a trial for those who disbelieve - that those who were given the Scripture will be convinced and those who have believed will increase in faith and those who were given the Scripture and the believers will not doubt and that those in whose hearts is hypocrisy and the disbelievers will say, "What does Allah intend by this as an example?" Thus does Allah leave astray whom He wills and guides whom He wills. And none knows the soldiers of your Lord except Him. And mention of the Fire is not but a reminder to humanity. 31
