The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the night when it covers the day, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 And Him who created the male and female, 3 Lo! your effort is dispersed (toward divers ends). 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the truth of the ultimate good 6 We will pave his way to ease. 7 But as for he who withholds and considers himself free of need 8 And rejects the best, 9 For him We shall ease the way of adversity, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Indeed guiding is upon Us. 12 And verily unto Us (belong) the End and the Beginning. 13 Wherefore I have warned you of Fire flaming, 14 in which no one will suffer forever except the wicked ones 15 Who give the lie to Truth and turn their backs. 16 and from which the cautious shall be distanced. 17 who spend for the cause of God and purify themselves. 18 And not [giving] for anyone who has [done him] a favor to be rewarded 19 but only to seek the good pleasure of his Lord Most High. 20 And he shall soon be well-pleased. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
