The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 HAVE WE NOT made the earth a resting-place [for you,] 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 And We have made your sleep as a rest. 9 and made the night a covering, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And built seven strong roofs above you. 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 and have sent down out of the rainclouds water cascading 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 And the heaven is opened and will become gateways 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Surely the Hell is an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 In it shall they remain for a long time. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 except boiling water and pus, 25 Recompense fitted! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 and they rejected outright Our signs; 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
