Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Ha Mim 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 verily We have made it an Arabic Qur'an that you may understand. 3 Indeed it is transcribed in the Original Book with Us; sublime and full of wisdom. 4 So shall We divert the advice away from you, because you are a nation that exceeds the limits? 5 Many a prophet had We sent to the earlier communities, 6 And not a prophet came unto them but him they were wont to mock. 7 Wherefore We destroyed peoples mightier than these in prowess; and there hath gone forth the example of the ancients. 8 If you ask them, "Who has created the heavens and the earth?", they will surely answer, "The Almighty, the All Knowing One has created them." 9 Who hath made for you the earth a bed, and hath made for you paths therein that haply ye may be directed. 10 And who sends down rain from the sky in measured amounts, and We revive thereby a dead land - thus will you be brought forth - 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 That ye may mount upon their backs, and may remember your Lord's favour when ye mount thereon, and may say: Glorified be He Who hath subdued these unto us, and we were not capable (of subduing them); 13 “And indeed we have to return to our Lord.” 14 The pagans have considered some of His servants as His children. There is no doubt that the human being is simply ungrateful. 15
