The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the Mount (Sinai), 1 By a Decree inscribed 2 on parchment for distribution, 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 by the elevated canopy; 5 and the sea that is full 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 on the Day when the skies are convulsed, 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 woe that day unto those that cry lies, 11 those who are in plunging, playing. 12 On that Day when they shall be pitched into the Fire of Gehenna (Hell), 13 This is the fire which you used to deny. 14 What, is this magic, or is it you that do not see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Verily the God-fearing will be in Gardens and Delight. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 Reclining on ranged couches. And we wed them unto fair ones with wide, lovely eyes. 20 And they who believe and whose seed follow them in faith, We cause their seed to join them (there), and We deprive them of nought of their (life's) work. Every man is a pledge for that which he hath earned. 21 And We shall succour them with fruits and flesh such as they desire 22 They shall there exchange, one with another, a (loving) cup free of frivolity, free of all taint of ill. 23 ۞ And young attendants like pearls within their shells, will go round. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Verily we were wont to pray unto Him aforetime; verily He! it is He, the Benign, the Merciful. 28
