The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
There surely came over man a period of time when he was a thing not worth mentioning. 1 We created man from a drop of mingled fluid so that We might try him; We gave him hearing and sight; 2 We surely showed him the way that he may either be grateful or deny. 3 Indeed, for the unbelievers We have prepared chains, fetters and a Blazing (Fire). 4 Surely the devotees will drink cups flavoured with palm blossoms 5 A fountain from which the servants of Allah shall drink; they make it to flow a (goodly) flowing forth. 6 They fulfill their vow and dread a Day the evil whereof shall be widespreading. 7 And they give food out of love for Him to the poor and the orphan and the captive: 8 (Saying): "We feed you for the sake of God, desiring neither recompense nor thanks. 9 Truly, we fear from our Lord a woefully grim Day." 10 So Allah will protect them from the evil of that Day and give them radiance and happiness 11 and will reward them for their steadfastness with Paradise and robes of silk. 12 Reclining in it, upon thrones; they will not see the hot sunshine in it, nor the bitter cold. 13 The shade thereof is close upon them and the clustered fruits thereof bow down. 14 And brought round amongst them will be vessels of silver and also goblets of glass. 15 and gleaming silver goblets which have been filled to the exact measure, 16 They will drink cups containing (soft flowing) sparkling water 17 Which is a spring in Paradise called Salsabeel. 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 When you look around, you will see delights and great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be green garments of silk and brocade; they are adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall give them to drink a pure draught. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
