The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Recite thou in the name of thy Lord Who hath created 1 Created man from a clinging substance. 2 Read: And thy Lord is the Most Bounteous, 3 Who taught by the pen, 4 taught man what he did not know! 5 Despite this, the human being still tends to rebel 6 As he bethinkest himself selfsufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Have you seen the one who forbids 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Have you seen if he is upon guidance 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 does he not know that Allah sees? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A forelock, lying, sinning. 16 Then let him summon his council, 17 We shall summon the guards of Hell. 18 Nay, heed him not: But bow down in adoration, and bring thyself the closer (to Allah)! ۩ 19
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
