People of Hijr rejected the Messengers. 80 And We brought Our signs unto them, yet they were averting themselves therefrom. 81 They were hewing the mountains into houses, therein dwelling securely; 82 and so the blast [of Our punishment] overtook them at early morn, 83 Then availed them not that which they had been earning. 84 And We have not created the heavens and the earth and all that is between them, except with the Truth; and indeed the Last Day will come, therefore (O dear Prophet Mohammed – peace and blessings be upon him), forbear graciously. 85 Surely your Lord is the Creator and knows (everything). 86 We have indeed given you the seven oft-repeated (examples), and the majestic Qur'an. 87 Do not strain your eyes after what We have given certain classes of them to enjoy, and do not grieve for them, and make yourself gentle to the believers. 88 And say: 'I am the plain warner' 89 So We sent it down to the partitioners, 90 Who have made the Qur'an into portions. 91 By your Lord, We will question them all 92 for what they have done 93 Proclaim openly what you are commanded, and avoid the polytheists. 94 We are surely sufficient to deal with those who scoff at you, 95 even against those who set up with God another god. Certainly they will soon know! 96 We are well aware that you are disheartened by what they say. 97 Proclaim thy Lord's praise, and be of those that bow, 98 And keep worshipping your Lord, till death* comes to you. (* The certainty.) 99
