Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Hath there come unto thee the story of the Enveloping Event? 1 Some faces that Day shall be downcast with fear, 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 watered at a boiling fountain, 5 No food will there be for them but a poisonous thorny plant, 6 Which will neither nourish nor satisfy hunger. 7 (Other) faces that Day will be joyful, 8 and pleased with the result of their deeds in the past. 9 In a high Garden. 10 In which they will not hear any lewd speech. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 raised couches, 13 And cups set at hand. 14 cushions ranged, 15 and carpets outspread. 16 Will they not then consider the camels, how they are created? 17 And the heaven, how it is reared aloft, 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And the earth, how it is spread? 20 Then remind them! Thou art only a reminder; 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whoever turns back and denies the truth, 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Lo! unto Us is their return 25 then upon Us shall rest their reckoning. 26
