The people of Lot rejected the Messengers, branding them liars. 160 when their brother Lot said unto them: "Will you not be conscious of God? 161 I am a trustworthy Messenger to you. 162 so fear God and obey me. 163 I ask of you no recompense for this; my reward is only with the Lord of the Universe. 164 What, of all creation will you go to (fornicate with) the males, 165 and leave your wives whom your Lord has created for you? You are a people who transgress all bounds." 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 (Lot) said: "I am disgusted with your actions," 168 [And then he prayed:] "O my Sustainer! Save me and my household from all that they are doing!" 169 So We delivered him and his people all together, 170 Save an old woman among those who stayed behind. 171 Thereafter We annihilated the rest. 172 and rained down upon them a rain [of destruction]: and dire is such rain upon all who let themselves be warned [to no avail]! 173 Surely in this there is a sign: but most of them would not believe: 174 Verily Your Lord is Immensely Mighty, Most Compassionate. 175
