Whatever misfortune befalls you is a consequence of your own deeds. But much of it He forgives. 30 You are not able to frustrate Him in the earth; and, apart from God, you have neither protector nor helper. 31 Among His signs are the ships sailing like mountains on the sea: 32 if He willed, He could bring the wind to a standstill and they would lie motionless on the surface of the sea, truly there are signs in this for anyone who is steadfast and grateful, 33 or He may cause them to founder because of people's misdeeds, He pardons many of them, 34 those who dispute Our signs shall learn that they have no escape. 35 Whatever ye are given (here) is (but) a convenience of this life: but that which is with Allah is better and more lasting: (it is) for those who believe and put their trust in their Lord: 36 And those who avoid heinous sins and indecencies, and when they are wroth forgive. 37 who respond to their Lord and attend to their prayers; who conduct their affairs by mutual consultation and spend out of what We have provided for them; 38 And those who, when an oppressive wrong is done to them, they take revenge. 39 But [remember that an attempt at] requiting evil may, too, become an evil: hence, whoever pardons [his foe] and makes peace, his reward rests with God - for, verily, He does not love evildoers. 40 But indeed if any do help and defend themselves after a wrong (done) to them, against such there is no cause of blame. 41 blame attaches but to those who oppress [other] people and behave outrageously on earth, offending against all right: for them there is grievous suffering in store! 42 And whoever is patient and forgives - indeed, that is of the matters [requiring] determination. 43
