The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Cloaked one, 1 Arise and warn! 2 And your Lord glorify 3 And your clothing purify 4 And stay away from idols. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 that shall be a Harsh Day 9 For the infidels, not easy. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 And give him vast riches, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And made life smooth and comfortable for him! 14 Yet he wants that I should give him more. 15 Not at all! Surely, he has been disobedient to Our verses. 16 I shall inflict on him hardship, 17 For lo! he did consider; then he planned - 18 Ruin seize him, how did he hatch a scheme? 19 Again, death seized him, how was his determining! 20 Then looked he, 21 Then frowned he and showed displeasure. 22 Then he turned away, and was haughty. 23 He said, 'This is naught but a trumped-up sorcery; 24 This is naught else than speech of mortal man. 25 I will soon fling him into hell. 26 Would that you really knew what hell is! 27 It leaves and spares no one and nothing. 28 it scorches the skin; 29 Above it are nineteen. 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
