The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the great event comes to pass, 1 there will be nought that could give the lie to its having come to pass, 2 It will bring low (some); (and others) it will exalt; 3 When the earth is shaken 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 So that they will become floating dust particles. 6 And you become [of] three kinds: 7 Then the companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 8 Companions of the Left (O Companions of the Left!) 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 On studded thrones. 15 Reclining on them, facing each other. 16 There will circulate among them young boys made eternal 17 With cups, and jugs, and a glass from the flowing wine, 18 Their heads shall not ache with it, nor shall they lose their senses. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and the flesh of birds, as they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 like the pearls in their shells: 23 A Reward for the deeds of their past (life). 24 They shall not hear therein vain or sinful discourse, 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 As for the people of the right hand, how happy they will be! 27 mid thornless lote-trees 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and spreading shade 30 and flowing water 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 And raised couches; 34 Lo! We have created them a (new) creation 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 for the people of the right hand 38
