The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Nigh unto men has drawn their reckoning, while they in heedlessness are yet turning away; 1 Whenever any fresh admonition comes to them from their Lord, they listen to it, but do not take it seriously; 2 and their hearts are preoccupied with trivial matters. The unjust ones whisper to each other and say, "Is he (Muhammad) more than a mere mortal like you? How can you follow that which you know is only a magic?" 3 The Prophet said, "My Lord knows whatever is said throughout the heaven and earth, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." 4 Nay! say they: Medleys of dreams; nay! he has forged it; nay! he is a poet; so let him bring to us a sign as the former (prophets) were sent (with). 5 (As to those) before them, not one of the populations which We destroyed believed: will these believe? 6 And We sent not before you (O Muhammad SAW) but men to whom We inspired, so ask the people of the Reminder [Scriptures - the Taurat (Torah), the Injeel (Gospel)] if you do not know. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 Then We fulfilled for them the promise, and We saved them and whom We willed and destroyed the transgressors. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
