The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca. First revelation of the Quran before The Pen (Al-Qalam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read! In the name of your Lord, who created: 1 Hath created man from a clot! 2 Read! Your Lord is the Most Bountiful One 3 Who hath taught mankind by the pen 4 taught Man that he knew not. 5 No indeed; surely Man waxes insolent, 6 Because he sees himself self-sufficient. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Seest thou one who forbids- 9 A slave (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) when he prays? 10 Seest thou if he is on (the road of) Guidance?- 11 Or enjoined guarding (against evil)? 12 What is your opinion if he denies and turns away, how wretched will be his state! 13 Does he not know that Allah sees? 14 No! If he does not desist, We will surely drag him by the forelock - 15 By the lying, the sinful forelock. 16 Then let him call his associates; 17 We will now call the guards! 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
Allah the Almighty always says the truth.
