Nay, by the moon, 32 by the retreating night, 33 By the dawn when it lightens! 34 Verily, that [hell-fire] is Indeed one of the great [forewarnings] 35 A warning unto humankind 36 For the one among you who wishes to come forward or stay back. 37 Every soul will be in captivity for its deeds 38 save those who shall have attained to righteousness: 39 In Gardens they will question 40 of those who were lost in sin: 41 'What thrusted you into Sakar?' 42 They will say, "We were not of those who prayed, 43 nor did we feed the destitute. 44 and we plunged along with the plungers, 45 "And we used to belie the Day of Recompense 46 "Until there came to us (the Hour) that is certain." 47 The intercession of the intercessors shall then be of no avail to them. 48 Then what is wrong with them (i.e. the disbelievers) that they turn away from (receiving) admonition? 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 Indeed, everyone of them desires to have sheets of revelations unfolded before them -- 52 By no means! But they fear not the Hereafter, 53 Yes indeed, this is an advice. 54 So whoever wills may heed advice from it. 55 And they will not remember, except that God wills; He is worthy to be feared, -- worthy to forgive. 56
