The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
112 verses, revealed in Mecca after Abraham (Ibrahim) before The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ The people's day of reckoning is drawing closer, yet they are heedlessly neglectful. 1 no Remembrance from their Lord comes to them lately renewed, but they listen to it yet playing, 2 their hearts are distracted and forgetful. The wrongdoers confer together secretly, saying, "Is not this man a mortal like you? Will you succumb to magic with your eyes open?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 Nay, but they say: 'A hotchpotch of nightmares! Nay, he has forged it; nay, he is a poet! Now therefore let him bring us a sign, even as the ancient ones were sent as Messengers.' 5 Before them, not one of the communities which We destroyed believed either. Will these believe? 6 We never sent (anyone) before you except men to whom We revealed to them. 'Ask the people of the Remembrance if you do not know' 7 And We did not create them without bodies so they would not eat food – nor that they abide on earth forever. 8 In the end We fulfilled to them Our Promise, and We saved them and those whom We pleased, but We destroyed those who transgressed beyond bounds. 9 We have bestowed upon you a Book that mentions you. Do you not understand? 10
