Relate the news of Abraham to them. 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, “We worship idols, and we keep squatting in seclusion before them.” 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 or do they profit you, or harm?' 73 They said, "But we found our fathers doing thus." 74 He said: Have you then considered what you have been worshipping: 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 Indeed, they are enemies to me, except the Lord of the worlds, 77 Who created me, then He has shown me the way: 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 And when I sicken, then He healeth me, 80 and who will cause me to die and then will bring me back to life 81 and whom I am eager shall forgive me my sins on the Day of Recompense' 82 My Lord, bestow wisdom upon me; unite me with the righteous; 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father, for surely he is of those who have gone astray; 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 The day when wealth and sons avail not (any man) 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and hell will be left open for the rebellious ones 91 they will be asked, "Where are those whom you worshipped 92 “Instead of Allah? Will they help you or retaliate?” 93 Then they shall be pitched into it, they and the perverse 94 and Satan's legions, all together. 95 They shall say, as they dispute there one with another, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 When we equated you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was nothing but the evildoers who led us astray. 99 Now we have no intercessors, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 But, verily, thy Sustainer - He alone - is almighty, a dispenser of grace! 104
