S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Sad. By the renowned Qur'an, 1 But the Unbelievers (are steeped) in self-glory and Separatism. 2 How many a generation We destroyed before them, and they cried out when it was no longer the time for escape! 3 Now these [people] deem it strange that a warner should have come unto them from their own midst - and [so] the deniers of the truth are saying: "A [mere] spellbinder is he, a liar! 4 Does he claim that all the deities are [but] one God? Verily, a most strange thing is this!" 5 A group of the pagans walked out of a meeting with the Prophet and told the others, "Let us walk away. Be steadfast in the worship of your gods. This man wants to dominate you. 6 We have not heard of this in the last religion; this is surely an invention. 7 "What! has the Message been sent to him - (Of all persons) among us?"... but they are in doubt concerning My (Own) Message! Nay, they have not yet tasted My Punishment! 8 Or have they the treasures of the mercy of thy Lord,- the Exalted in Power, the Grantor of Bounties without measure? 9 Or, is theirs the dominion of the heavens and the earth and that which is in-between the twain? If so, let them ascend by steps. 10 They will be one more army vanquished among the many routed hordes. 11 The folk of Noah before them denied (their messenger) and (so did the tribe of) A'ad, and Pharaoh firmly planted, 12 and [the tribe of] Thamud, and the people of Lot, and the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan]: they all were leagued together, [as it were, in their unbelief:] 13 Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified, 14
