Elucidated (Fussilat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
Ha Mim! 1 THE BESTOWAL from on high [of this revelation] issues from the Most Gracious, the Dispenser of Grace: 2 A Book whose verses have been detailed, an Arabic Qur'an for a people who know, 3 It bears glad tidings and a warning, yet most of them turn away and do not listen. 4 And say: "Our hearts are immured against what you call us to. There is a deafness in our ears, and a veil lies between us and you. So act (your way), we are acting (ours)." 5 Say thou: I am only a human being like unto you; only it is revealed unto me that your God is but One God, wherefore take the straight path unto Him and seek forgiveness of Him. And woe be unto the associators. 6 who do not pay zakat and have no faith in the life to come. 7 As to those who have faith and do good works, surely theirs shall be a never-ending reward. 8
