The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the Mount Sinai, 1 By the book inscribed. 2 In parchment spread open 3 By the much-frequented Fane; 4 and by the lofty vault of the sky, 5 And the sea set aflame. 6 Verily, the Doom of thy Lord will indeed come to pass;- 7 There is none that can ward it off. 8 On the day when the heaven shall move from side to side 9 and the mountains move, moving. 10 So woe on that day to those who reject (the truth), 11 That play (and paddle) in shallow trifles. 12 The day when they are thrust with a (disdainful) thrust, into the fire of hell 13 "This is the Fire which you used to deny. 14 Is this, then, any feat of magic or are you unable to see? 15 Go now and burn in it. It is all the same whether you bear it patiently or do not bear it with patience. You are only being recompensed for your deeds.” 16 Indeed the pious are in Gardens and peace. 17 rejoicing in that their Lord has given them; and their Lord shall guard them against the chastisement of Hell. 18 "Eat and drink with happiness because of what you used to do." 19 The God-fearing shall be reclining on couches facing each other, and We shall wed them to maidens with large, beautiful eyes. 20 And those who believed, and their seed followed them in belief, We shall join their seed with them, and We shall not defraud them of aught of their work; every man shall be pledged for what he earned. 21 We shall provide them with fruits and the meat of the kind which they desire. 22 They shall pass therein from one to another a cup wherein there shall be nothing vain nor any sin. 23 ۞ Round about them will serve, (devoted) to them, young male servants (handsome) as Pearls well-guarded. 24 They will go to one another asking each other questions: 25 They will say, "Indeed, we were previously among our people fearful [of displeasing Allah]. 26 Wherefore Allah hath obliged us, and hath protected us from the torment of the Scorch. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
