Al-Isra 9 of 12
Establish thou the prayer from the declination of the sun to the darkening of the night, and the recitation at the dawn; verily the recitation at the dawn is ever borne witness to. 78 And as for the night, keep vigil a part of it, as a work of supererogation for thee; it may be that thy Lord will raise thee up to a laudable station. 79 And say: My Lord! Cause me to come in with a firm incoming and to go out with a firm outgoing. And give me from Thy presence a sustaining Power. 80 And say, "Truth has come, and falsehood has departed. Indeed is falsehood, [by nature], ever bound to depart." 81 We sent down of the Koran that which is a healing and a mercy to believers, but to the harmdoers it does not increase them, except in loss. 82 Yet when We bestow favors upon mankind he turns his back and withdraws to one side. But when evil befalls him, he despairs. 83 Say: 'Each human works in his own manner. But your Lord knows very well who is best guided on the way' 84

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
