Have you [Prophet] considered the man who turned away, 33 and grudgingly spends very little for the cause of God? 34 What! Has he knowledge of the Unseen so that he can see? 35 Or, has he not been told of that which is in the Scrolls of Moses 36 and Abraham, who paid his debt in full? 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 nor can man achieve anything without hard labor. 39 and that [the fruit of] his striving shall soon be seen; 40 And only then will he receive his recompense in full; 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 That it is He Who granteth Laughter and Tears; 43 And He who ordains death and life; 44 and that He Himself created the two kinds, male and female, 45 from a discharged living germ 46 And that upon Him is another bringing forth. 47 that it is He who gives wealth and possessions; 48 And that it is He Who is the Lord of Sirius. 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And that Thamud! He left not. 51 and the people of Noah before -- certainly they did exceeding evil, and were insolent 52 And He destroyed the overthrown cities [of Sodom to which Prophet Lout (Lot) was sent]. 53 So that there covered them that which did cover. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner of the warners of old. 56 The Day of Resurrection draws near, 57 None except Allah can avert it. 58 Do you then marvel at this discourse, 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 and divert yourselves all the while? 61 Therefore prostrate for Allah, and worship Him.
