The Hijjr Valley (Al-Hijjr)
99 verses, revealed in Mecca after Joseph (Yousuf) before Animals (Al-An 'aam)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ A. L. R. These are the Ayats of Revelation,- of a Qur'an that makes things clear. 1 Perchance the unbelievers will wish that they had surrendered: 2 Leave them alone; let them eat and enjoy themselves the while the hope [of vain delights] beguiles them: for in time they will come to know [the truth]. 3 And never did We destroy a town but it had a term made known. 4 No people can hasten or delay the term already fixed for them. 5 They say: 'You to whom the Remembrance is sent down, you are indeed mad. 6 Why do you not bring down angels upon us if you are indeed truthful?" 7 But then We never send the angels down save with the purpose (of enforcing their doom), after which they will not be given more respite. 8 It is We who have sent down the Reminder and We will, most surely, safeguard it. 9 We verily sent (messengers) before thee among the factions of the men of old. 10 And never does a Noble Messenger come to them, but they mock at him. 11 This is how We make the mocking* enter the hearts of the guilty. (* The acts of disbelief.) 12 That they should not believe in the (Message); but the ways of the ancients have passed away. 13 If We were even to open for them a way to the heavens, and they could continually climb up to it in broad daylight, 14 They would certainly say: Only our eyes have been covered over, rather we are an enchanted people. 15

كيف تعمل منظومة تمارين الحفظ؟ عند أدنى مستوى 0، تكون كل الكلمات ظاهرة. بينما يُخفي أعلى مستوى 9 كل الكلمات. فكيف تعمل المستويات المتوسطة، مثل 3، على سبيل المثال؟ قد تعتقد بأن المنظومة تخفي 3 من كل تسع كلمات بدقة. ليس تماما! في المستوى 3، لكل كلمة فرصة اختفاء بنسبة 3 من 9، و6 من 9 لتكون ظاهرة. بمعنى آخر، من الممكن، ولكن باحتمال شبة معدوم، أن تكون جميع كلمات المستوى 3 مخفية، أو أن تكون جميعها ظاهرة! وكذلك أيضًا، ففي المستويات المتوسطة، وبما يتناسب مع مستوى الصعوبة، يمكن أن تكون المخابئ غير كاملة أو شفافة جزئيًا بحيث تظهر الكلمات جزئيًا تحتها.
How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
