The Prophets (Al-Anbyaa')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ [The time of] their account has approached for the people, while they are in heedlessness turning away. 1 Whenever there comes unto them any new reminder from their Sustainer, they but listen to it with playful amusement, 2 Their hearts toying as with trifles. The wrong-doers conceal their private counsels, (saying), "Is this (one) more than a man like yourselves? Will ye go to witchcraft with your eyes open?" 3 He said: "My Lord knows whatever is spoken in the heavens and the earth. He hears all and knows everything." 4 "Nay," they say, "(these are) medleys of dream! - Nay, He forged it! - Nay, He is (but) a poet! Let him then bring us a Sign like the ones that were sent to (Prophets) of old!" 5 Not one township that We destroyed before them believed. Would they, then, believe? 6 And We sent not before thee but men unto whom We revealed; so ask the people of the admonition if ye know not. 7 We did not endow the Messengers with bodies that would need no food; nor were they immortals. 8 We then fulfilled the promise to them, therefore rescued them and whomever We willed, and destroyed the transgressors. 9 And assuredly We have sent down unto you a Book wherein is admonition for you; will ye not then reflect? 10
