The Embryo (Al-Alaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Read (Prophet Muhammad) in the Name of your Lord who created, 1 Created man, out of a (mere) clot of congealed blood: 2 Recite: and your Lord is Most Generous, 3 The One Who taught to write with the pen. 4 taught the human what he did not know. 5 Nay, verily, man becomes grossly overweening 6 For he thinks he is sufficient in himself. 7 Indeed, to your Lord is the returning. 8 Bethinkest thou him who forbiddeth, 9 a worshiper when he prays. 10 Bethinkest thou, if he is himself guided, 11 Or enjoins Righteousness? 12 Did you consider: what if he gives the lie (to the Truth) and turns away (from it)? 13 Is he then unaware that Allah seeth? 14 Nay! If he (Abu Jahl) ceases not, We will catch him by the forelock, 15 A lying, sinful forehead. 16 So let him summon his helpmates; 17 and We too will call the stern and angry keepers of hell. 18 Nay, Obey not thou him. But prostrate thyself, and draw near (unto Allah). ۩ 19
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
