Truly, it is the sending of the Lord of the Worlds. 192 The Trustworthy Spirit has brought it down 193 into your heart, so that you may be a warner, 194 (a revelation) in clear Arabic language, 195 And verily, [the essence of] this [revelation] is indeed found in the ancient books of divine wisdom [as well]. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 But [even] had We bestowed it from on high upon any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it unto them, they would not have believed in it. 199 Thus it passes through the hearts of the criminals. 200 They will not believe in it until they see the painful punishment. 201 It shall come unto them on a sudden, and they shall not perceive. 202 They will therefore say, “Will we get some respite?” 203 Do they, then, [really] wish that Our chastisement be hastened on? 204 Think! If We let them enjoy life for some years, 205 and thereupon that [chastisement] which they were promised befalls them 206 What shall that which they enjoyed avail them? 207 And We destroyed not a city but it had its warners. 208 To remind, and We are never unjust. 209 And the Shaitans have not come down with it. 210 It would neither suit them nor would they be able (to produce it). 211 They have been precluded from hearing it. 212 So call on no other god but God, lest you are condemned to torment; 213 And admonish thy nearest kinsmen, 214 And take those believers under your wing who follow you. 215 So if they do not obey you, then say, “Indeed I am unconcerned with what you do.” 216 And rely upon the Exalted in Might, the Merciful, 217 Who sees you when you arise 218 and observes your movements among those who prostrate themselves. 219 He is All-Hearing, All-Knowing. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend upon all sinful self-deceivers 222 The devils convey upon them what they heard, but most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, only those who go astray follow them. 224 Have you not seen that they wander distract in every valley, 225 And they say what they do not do, 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
