The dwellers in the wood (of Midian) denied the messengers (of Allah), 176 When Shu'aib said to them: "Will you not take heed? 177 Surely I am a faithful apostle to you; 178 "So fear Allah and obey me. 179 my wage falls only upon the Lord of all Being. 180 ۞ "[Always] give full measure, and be not among those who [unjustly] cause loss [to others]; 181 Weigh on an even balance. 182 Wrong not mankind in their goods, and do not evil, making mischief, in the earth. 183 Fear He who created you, and the generations of the ancient' 184 They replied, "You are bewitched. 185 "Thou art no more than a mortal like us, and indeed we think thou art a liar! 186 So cause a piece of the sky to fall upon us if you are truthful." 187 He said: My Lord is Best Aware of what ye do. 188 They rejected him, and then had to suffer the punishment of a day of overshadowing gloom. That was indeed the punishment of an awful day. 189 In this there is an evidence of the Truth, but many of them did not have any faith. 190 And most surely your Lord is Mighty, the Merciful. 191
