Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ The Inevitable Reality - 1 What is the Reality? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 Thamud and 'Ad people denied the Qari'ah [the striking Hour (of Judgement)]! 4 As for Thamud, they were destroyed by the lightning. 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 which God let loose against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you could have seen its people lying prostrate as though they were the hollow trunks of palm-trees which had fallen down. 7 So do you see any survivor among them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 and rebelled against their Sustainer's apostles: and so He took them to task with a punishing grasp exceedingly severe! 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 that We might make it a reminder for you and for heeding ears to hold. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound one blast 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 On that Day will come what is to come. 15 And the heaven will split [open], for that Day it is infirm. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 So whoever is given his book in his right hand he will say, “Take, read my account!” 19 Surely I knew that I shall meet my account. 20 Then he will be in blissful state 21 in a lofty Garden, 22 with its fruits within easy reach. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But he who is given his record in his left hand will say, "If only I had never been given my Record 25 And not known my account! 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 "My wealth has not availed me, 28 My authority is gone away from me. 29 (A command will be issued): “Seize him and shackle him, 30 and then roast him in Hell, 31 Fasten a chain to them - seventy cubits long - 32 He did not believe in Allah, the Great, 33 Nor he urged on others the feeding of the poor. 34 So there is not for him here this Day any devoted friend 35 Nor any food except refuse, 36 Which none but the hellish eat." 37
