Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
19 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat) before The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is cleft asunder, 1 and when the stars are scattered; 2 the oceans are merged together, 3 and when the graves are overturned 4 every soul will see the result of its deeds - those recorded before his death and those which will produce either virtue or evil after his death. 5 O human! What has deceived you concerning your Generous Lord 6 Who created you, shaped you, and made you well-proportioned, 7 in whatever form He pleased? 8 By no means! Aye, ye belie the Requital. 9 But verily over you (are appointed angels) to protect you,- 10 Illustrious scribes 11 They know whatsoever ye do. 12 The virtuous ones will live in bliss 13 And lo! the wicked verily will be in hell; 14 They shall enter it on the Day of Recompense 15 And thence they shall not be allowed to be absent. 16 And what could make thee conceive what that Judgment Day will be? 17 Again, what shall teach thee what is the Day of Doom? 18 A day on which no soul hath power at all for any (other) soul. The (absolute) command on that day is Allah's. 19
