The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And hath cast out all that was in her, and is empty 4 And hearkens to its Lord and is dutiful, 5 Human being, you strive hard to get closer to your Lord, and so you will certainly receive the recompense (of your deeds). 6 So whoever is given his record of deeds in his right hand – 7 he will in time be called to account with an easy accounting, 8 and will return rejoicing to his family. 9 But whoso is given his account behind his back, 10 they will say, "Woe to us!" 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 He used to be happy with his own people; 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it is at the full, 18 You will surely go up level by level. 19 What aileth them then, that they believe not, 20 When the Quran is read to them, why do they not fall to their knees? ۩ 21 In fact, they reject the Quran, 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 So announce to them a Penalty Grievous, 24 But those who believe and work righteous works, theirs shall be a hire unending. 25
