And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: What do you worship? 70 They replied, "We worship idols and shall continue to worship them". 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 "Or do they benefit you or do they harm (you)?" 73 They said: "Nay, but we found our fathers doing thus (what we do)." 74 He said: "Do you observe that which you have been worshipping, 75 you and your forefathers -- 76 Yet they are my enemies except the Lord of all the worlds 77 He created me and He will guide me. 78 And Who feedeth me and watereth me. 79 and heals me when I am sick. 80 And Who causeth me to die, then giveth me life (again), 81 And He Who, I long, shall forgive me my faults, on the Day of Requital. 82 O Lord, give me wisdom and admit me among the righteous, 83 And grant me an honourable mention in later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Paradise of Delight; 85 And forgive my father; verily he is of the erring. 86 Do not degrade me on the Day when they are resurrected. 87 the Day when wealth and sons will be of no avail, 88 [and when] only he [will be happy] who comes before God with a heart free of evil!" 89 And the Garden will be brought nigh for those who ward off (evil). 90 and the Fire will be uncovered for those who strayed, 91 and they will be asked: "Where now is all that you were wont to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 Together with the hordes of Iblis. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 "By God, we were plainly in error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It is none but those steeped in guilt who led us into this error, 99 So we have no intercessors, 100 Nor a true friend; 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 And most surely your Lord is the Mighty, the Merciful. 104
