The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Event (i.e. the Day of Resurrection) befalls. 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with a shock 4 and the mountains fragmented 5 Becoming dust scattered abroad, 6 You will become three categories: 7 Then (there will be) the Companions of the Right Hand;- What will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 8 Those on the Left -- how unlucky are those on the Left! 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 These will be those Nearest to Allah: 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A throng of the ancients, 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 [They will be seated] on gold-encrusted thrones of happiness, 15 Reclining face to face. 16 They will be served by immortal boys, 17 with goblets, and ewers, and a cup from a spring 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 and such flesh of fowl as they desire, 21 And (there will be) Companions with beautiful, big, and lustrous eyes,- 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 The reward for what they did. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Only the saying, "Peace! Peace". 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 and clustered bananas, 29 and spreading shade 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And [with them will be their] spouses, raised high: 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 And made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those on the right hand; 38
