Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the dawn, 1 and the ten nights! 2 Consider the multiple and the One! 3 by the night when it journeys on! 4 Is there not an evidence in this for those who have sense? 5 Have you not heard how your Lord dealt with Aad? 6 [the people of] Iram the many-pillared, 7 The likes of whom had never been created in the land? 8 (Also consider how He dealt with) the Thamud, who carved their houses out of the rocks in the valley. 9 And with Firaun, who used to crucify. 10 Who all waxed exorbitant in the cities, 11 spreading in them much corruption? 12 Wherefore thy Lord poured on them the scourge of His torment. 13 Truly your Lord is ever watchful. 14 As for man, when his Lord tests him, through honour and blessings, he says, "My Lord has honoured me," 15 but when He tests him by straitening his means of livelihood, he says, "My Lord has disgraced me." 16 No indeed, but you show no kindness to the orphan, 17 and you urge not the feeding of the needy, 18 And you readily devour the inheritance with greed. 19 And you love wealth with exceeding love. 20 When the earth is crushed into small pieces 21 And your Lord comes and (also) the angels in ranks, 22 And brought [within view], that Day, is Hell - that Day, man will remember, but what good to him will be the remembrance? 23 He will say: Ah, would that I had sent before me (some provision) for my life! 24 Then on that Day Allah will chastise as none other can chastise; 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 [To the righteous it will be said], "O reassured soul, 27 Return thou unto thy Sustainer, well-pleased [and] pleasing [Him]: 28 "Enter thou, then, among My devotees! 29 into My Paradise. 30
