Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Reality! 1 And what is that indubitable event? 2 And what will make you know what the Reality is? 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 As for Thamood, they were destroyed by the Screamer; 5 and as for Ad, they were destroyed by a wind clamorous, 6 that He subjected upon them for seven nights and eight days consecutively and you might have seen them struck down as if they were the stumps of palm trees that had fallen down. 7 Do you see any vestige left of them now? 8 And Firaun, and those before him, and the dwellings that were inverted and thrown, had brought error. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Indeed, when the water overflowed, We carried your ancestors in the sailing ship 11 That We might make it a memorial for you, and that remembering ears (that heard the story) might remember. 12 And when the trumpet shall sound a single blast. 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be borne and the twain shall be crushed with a single crash. 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 The heaven will be split; because on that Day it will be frail. 16 And the angels are at its edges. And there will bear the Throne of your Lord above them, that Day, eight [of them]. 17 That Day shall ye be brought to Judgment: not an act of yours that ye hide will be hidden. 18 Then, he who is given his book in his right hand will say: 'Here, take and read my book! 19 Behold, I did know that [one day] I would have to face my account! 20 They will have a pleasant life 21 in a high Garden, 22 Whereof the clusters are in easy reach. 23 "Eat ye and drink ye, with full satisfaction; because of the (good) that ye sent before you, in the days that are gone!" 24 But, he who is given his book in his left hand will say: 'Woe to me, would that my book had not been given to me! 25 and that we would never knew what our records contained. 26 "Ah! Would that (Death) had made an end of me! 27 "Of no profit to me has been my wealth! 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 Seize him and fetter him, 30 Then in the Scorch roast him 31 And string him to a chain seventy cubits long. 32 for, behold, he did not believe in God, the Tremendous, 33 “And did not urge to feed the needy.” 34 Therefor hath he no lover here this day, 35 Nor any food save filth 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
