Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
I swear by the wind that scatters far and wide, 1 then the bearers of weight (the clouds), 2 And (the ships) that float with ease and gentleness; 3 and distributing the command of God at His behest! 4 Lo! that wherewith ye are threatened is indeed true, 5 And the judgment must most surely come about. 6 By the Sky with (its) numerous Paths, 7 You are indeed in different opinions regarding this Qur’an. 8 He is turned away from it who would be turned away. 9 Accursed be the conjecturers 10 Those who are in heedlessness neglectful. 11 They ask: "When is the Day of Judgement?" -- 12 (It will be) a Day when they will be tried (and tested) over the Fire! 13 "Taste you your trial (burning)! This is what you used to ask to be hastened!" 14 As to the Righteous, they will be in the midst of Gardens and Springs, 15 joyously receiving what their Lord will have granted them. Verily they did good works before (the coming of this Day): 16 They used to sleep but little by night [invoking their Lord (Allah) and praying, with fear and hope]. 17 and asked for forgiveness in the early morning. 18 and sharing their possessions with the beggars and the deprived. 19 And in the earth are signs for those who are certain. 20 And also in your ownselves. Will you not then see? 21 In heaven is your sustenance, and also that which you are promised. 22 Then, by the Lord of the heaven and the earth, it is the truth (i.e. what has been promised to you), just as it is the truth that you can speak. 23
