AND WHEN the messengers [of God] came to the house of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They said, 'Nay, but we have brought thee that concerning which they were doubting. 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And [through Our messengers] We revealed unto him this decree: "The last remnant of those [sinners] shall be wiped out in the morn." 66 And the people of the city came rejoicing. 67 He said, 'These are my guests; put me not to shame, 68 Have fear of Allah, and do not humiliate me." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: these are my daughters, if act ye must. 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 So the rumbling overtook them (while) entering upon the time of sunrise; 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And verily they are on a pathway lasting. 76 Indeed there is a portent in this for those who believe. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 We therefore took revenge from them; and indeed both these townships are situated on an open road. 79
