The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 when the stars shall be thrown down, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 and when all human beings are coupled [with their deeds,] 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when Hellfire is set ablaze 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 Every soul will then come know what it has brought. 14 So by oath of those that revolve. (The planets.) 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 and the night as it darkly falls, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And the Qur'an is not the word of a devil, expelled [from the heavens]. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This is merely a reminder to all mankind; 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
