The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
CONSIDER the sky full of great constellations, 1 And by oath of the Promised Day. 2 And by oath of the day that is a witness and by oath of a day in which the people present themselves. 3 Woe to the makers of the pit (of fire), 4 Fire supplied (abundantly) with fuel: 5 while they themselves sat around it 6 to watch what they were doing to the believers, 7 whom they hated for no other reason than that they believed in God, the Almighty, the Praiseworthy, 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Those who persecuted the believing men and women and never repented, there is for them the punishment of Gehenna (Hell), and for them the punishment of the burning. 10 (But) for those who believe and do good works, for them there are Gardens underneath which rivers flow that is the Great Victory! 11 Surely the might of your Lord is great. 12 it is He who begins and repeats [His creation], 13 And He is the Forgiving, the Loving, 14 Lord of the Throne, the All-glorious, 15 Effecter of what He intends. 16 Have you not heard the story of the hosts 17 Of Fir'aun (Pharaoh) and Thamud? 18 Yet the unbelievers still belie, 19 And Allah is after them, has them surrounded. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 in a guarded tablet. 22
