(The nation of) Aad belied their Messengers. 123 When their brother Hood said to them: 'Will you not be cautious? 124 I am a trustworthy messenger for you: 125 Therefore guard against (the punishment of) Allah and obey me: 126 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns, and all that exists). 127 Build ye on every eminence a landmark in vanity? 128 And take for yourselves palaces and fortresses that you might abide eternally? 129 and when you strike you strike like tyrants? 130 “Therefore fear Allah, and obey me.” 131 Fear Him who has bestowed on you what you know, 132 He has given you flocks and sons, 133 And gardens and watersprings. 134 'Indeed, I fear for you the chastisement of a dreadful day.' 135 They said: "It is the same to us whether you preach or be not of those who preach. 136 This has been happening all along. 137 They rejected him and We destroyed them. 138 And they denied him; therefor We destroyed them. Lo! herein is indeed a portent, yet most of them are not believers. 139 And verily! Your Lord, He is indeed the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 140
