We also favoured Moses and Aaron, 114 And saved them and their people from great distress, 115 And helped them so that they became the victors. 116 and We gave them the Clear Book, 117 And We guided them on the straight path. 118 and preserved for them a good name among posterity. 119 Peace be unto Moses and Aaron! 120 Indeed, We thus reward the doers of good. 121 Verily! They were two of Our believing slaves. 122 Elias too was one of the Envoys; 123 He said to his people, "Have you no fear [of God?] 124 Call ye upon Bal and forsake the Best of creators. 125 Allah, your Lord and Lord of your forefathers? 126 And they denied him, so indeed, they will be brought [for punishment], 127 except Allah's chosen servants. 128 And we left for him among the later folk (the salutation): 129 Peace be on Ilyas. 130 Thus do We reward the good-doers. 131 Verily he was one of Our bondmen believing. 132 Verily Lot was one of the apostles, 133 We saved him and all his people, 134 except for an old woman who stayed behind, 135 Then We destroyed the others. 136 And indeed, you pass by them in the morning 137 And at night. When reading the Colorful Quran in English transliterated Arabic mode, you may not notice that there is an algorithm designed to match the pause requirements of the original Arabic scripture, (waqf signs). As you may know, the original Arabic Quran has five main types of pauses, (waqf) signs. (1) Compulsory break, where the transliteration uses a full stop. (2) Optional pause with the preference for pausing, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a probability of two thirds. (3) Optional stop with an equal preference for pausing and resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a half-half probability. (4) Optional pause with the preference for resuming, where the transliteration uses a comma that may appear with a chance of one third. (5) Attraction pause, also called hugging, or (mu’anaka) sign, where it is compulsory to pause at either one of two nearby positions, but not both; where the transliteration inserts a comma at either one of the two locations with a half-half probability.
