And whosoever turns away (blinds himself) from the remembrance of the Most Beneficent (Allah) (i.e. this Quran and worship of Allah), We appoint for him Shaitan (Satan - devil) to be a Qarin (an intimate companion) to him. 36 And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided 37 till, when he comes to Us, he says, 'Would there had been between me and thee the distance of the two Easts!' An evil comrade! 38 It will profit you not this Day (O you who turn away from Allah's remembrance and His worship, etc.) as you did wrong, (and) that you will be sharers (you and your Qarin) in the punishment. 39 Then will you make the deaf hear, [O Muhammad], or guide the blind or he who is in clear error? 40 Even if We take you away from the world, We shall surely take vengeance on them 41 Or show you some of what We have promised them. They are certainly well within Our power. 42 Follow devotedly that which is revealed to you. You are certainly on the right path. 43 Verily it is a great source of eminence for you and your people, and soon you will be called to account concerning that. 44 Yet [above all else,] ask any of Our apostles whom We sent forth before thy time whether We have ever allowed that deities other than the Most Gracious be worshipped! 45
