At length when the messengers arrived among the adherents of Lut, 61 he said, "You seem to be strangers". 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 We have come to thee with the truth, and assuredly we speak truly. 64 "Then travel by night with thy household, when a portion of the night (yet remains), and do thou bring up the rear: let no one amongst you look back, but pass on whither ye are ordered." 65 And We informed him the decision of this command, that at morning the root of the disbelievers would be cut off. 66 And the people of the town came rejoicing. 67 Lut said: "These are my guests: disgrace me not: 68 Have fear of God and do not humiliate me". 69 They replied: "Did we not forbid you again and again to extend hospitality to all and sundry?" 70 He said: "There are my daughters (to marry), if ye must act (so)." 71 By thy life (O Muhammad) they moved blindly in the frenzy of approaching death. 72 At sunrise a dreadful Shout seized them. 73 We laid it (the city) upside down and rained stones of baked clay upon them. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 And surely it is on a road that still abides. 76 Lo! therein is indeed a portent for believers. 77 And the dwellers of the thicket also were most surely unjust. 78 We afflicted them with punishment. Both people had clear (divine) authority among them. 79
