۞ And certainly We gave to Ibrahim his rectitude before, and We knew him fully well. 51 when he said unto his father and his people, "What are these images to which you are so intensely devoted?" 52 They replied: "We found our fathers worshipping them." 53 He said: "Certainly you and your fathers have all been in manifest error." 54 They said: hast thou come unto us with the truth, or art thou of those who sport? 55 He said, "Nay, your Lord is the Lord of the heavens and the earth, He Who created them (from nothing): and I am a witness to this (Truth). 56 And, by God, I shall assuredly outwit your idols, after you have gone away turning your backs.' 57 So he broke them into pieces, except the chief of them, that haply they may return to it. 58 They said, 'Who has. done this with our gods? Surely he is one of the evildoers.' 59 They said, "We heard a youth talk of them: He is called Abraham." 60 They said, “Therefore bring him in front of the people, perhaps they may testify.” 61 They said, “Did you do this to our Gods, O Ibrahim?” 62 He replied, "I think the biggest among them has broken the smaller ones. Ask them if they are able to speak". 63 Then they turned to one another and said, "It is you yourselves who are in the wrong," 64 then they hung their heads, and said, "O Abraham! You know they cannot speak." 65 Abraham said, "So, do you worship something instead of God that can neither benefit you nor harm you? 66 Fie on you and all that ye worship instead of Allah! Have ye then no sense? 67 They cried: Burn him and stand by your gods, if ye will be doing. 68 Allah said, "O fire, be coolness and safety upon Abraham." 69 And they intended to do him an evil, but We made them the worst losers. 70 and We delivered him, and Lot, unto the land that We had blessed for all beings. 71 And We bestowed upon him Ishaque (Isaac), and (a grandson) Ya'qub (Jacob). Each one We made righteous. 72 And We made them leaders, guiding by Our command; and We revealed unto them the doing of good deeds and the establishment of prayer, and the giving of poor-rate; and of Us they were the worshippers. 73 And to Lut, too, We gave Judgment and Knowledge, and We saved him from the town which practised abominations: truly they were a people given to Evil, a rebellious people. 74 And We brought him in unto Our mercy. Lo! he was of the righteous. 75
