Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and his people, "What is that which you worship?" 70 They answered: "There are some idols that we worship and are devoted to them with constancy." 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or do they benefit you, or do you harm?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 He said, "Then do you see what you have been worshipping, 75 you and your fathers, the elders? 76 Surely they are enemies to me, but not (so) the Lord of the worlds; 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 And He Who gives me to eat and gives me to drink: 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 “And He will give me death, then resurrect me.” 81 And Who, I hope, will forgive me my mistakes on the day of judgment. 82 [And he said], "My Lord, grant me authority and join me with the righteous. 83 and appoint me a tongue of truthfulness among the others. 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 and forgive my father for he is among those who strayed, 86 And humiliate me not on the Day whereon people shall be raised. 87 The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children 88 Except him who comes to Allah with a heart free (from evil). 89 And the garden shall be brought near for those who guard (against evil), 90 And the Fierce Fire shall be made apparent unto the seduced ones. 91 And it shall be said unto them where is that which ye were wont to worship? 92 Other than God? Can they save you or even save themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown on their faces into the (Fire), They and the Ghawun (devils, and those who were in error). 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 "Quarrelling therein with each other, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 When we equalled you with the Lord of the worlds. 98 It was the evildoers who led us astray, 99 and we have no intercessors now, 100 nor any loving friend. 101 Oh, that we had another turn (on earth), that we might be of the believers! 102 In this there is evidence (of the truth), but many of them do not have any faith. 103 Verily your Lord is mighty and merciful. 104
